Govt orders great firewall of Thailand
a lot of unhappy expats now in Thailand regarding this issue
http://www.telecomasia.net/blog/content ... l-thailandBANGKOK: -- Thailand’s military government has ordered the creation of a great firewall of Thailand to control the flow of information on the Internet.
General Prayuth’s cabinet ordered the ICT and Justice Ministries and the National Police Department to set up a single internet gateway in order to control inappropriate websites and to control the flow of information into the country from overseas via the internet

Ahh bless them, the military have had a meeting and want to go back to the age of the Bavarian farmer when everything was pure and controllable. The closer we get together the further apart we want to be. Come on Kingy, hurry up and die so all hell can be let loose.

perhaps I will spend most of my next trip in Cambodia. Madness.
Re: Govt orders great firewall of Thailand
Well, it should be obvious by now that, other than trying to keep up appearances and prevent the economy from completely collapsing, everything the junta is doing, has been doing and will be doing is focused on one thing and one thing only, which is basically to prepare for "war".a lot of unhappy expats now in Thailand regarding this issue
The internet is a very BIG problem in terms of information coming in and communications between the leaders and members of various factions.
The junta will continue to seek total control of all media and communications, so that it can effectively stage manage the big upcoming event. Until that time, Thailand will remain in suspension with less and less focus on drafting the constitution, talking about elections, paying lip service to human rights, etc.
There is only one thing happening in Thailand now and that is the jockeying for position by the multiple factions who want to influence the outcome of the Big Event.
There may be a lot of unhappy expats in Thailand now, but they will be a lot more soon, especially those who have been in denial and have not made plans to exit the country, if necessary.

Re: Govt orders great firewall of Thailand
its not a big deal;
take ur laptop to a free wife place like starbucks or numerous other places,
log on, load Tor
and ur good to go
This new firewall is aimed more at Thai posters using social media to ( depending on who ur talking too) spread the truth or spread discontent.
BUT down south, the Moslem problem is much more real then the approaching death and what happens after.
The changes in the past 2 years or so have been amazing.

Also, one has to wonder why the Thais can't follow the example of King Sihanouk and arrange for the succession to take place before the passing.

I don't think there are any suitable candidates for succession.
