which is your health insurance?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Cheap never equals better in the world of health insurance. I'm a 41 year old bloke and my insurance (via Aviva) works out at around $250 a month but it does include medivac if necessary.

Best to up your deductible rather than lower your benefits.. Mine is like $2000 and it keeps the price reasonable. All my out of pocket stuff/year is 1/10 of that.

Increase your deductible, AND make use of no claim bonuses. Healthcare is so cheap here, you need insurance only for really serious cases.

(And make sure outpatient medication is covered. My friend got some rare illness, and now must pay $10000 for medicine from his own pocket each year...)

What's so good about Aetna, and how much do you pay per annum, if I may ask?

We pay about $5500 p.a. for the Aetna Ultracare Select plan for 2 adults 2 kids (that includes 20 or 25% no claims bonus).
I'll look up more exact figures later.

I had it as part of a package from an NGO, don't know the cost

I ended up in hospital back home in an exclusive clinic, never paid a cent
