Ouch, this is gonna Hurt (Huge 1.5 Tonnes of Cannabis Bust)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Depends on your perspective. It's a drop in the ocean compared to the size of the market.

Fair enough, it's amazing how much not-very-good weed can be sowed and reaped on land owned/rented or commandeered by RCAF/5-0 affiliated peasants.

Somebody who I know very well visited such a place once with an army honcho for the lols. They were trying to flog kilos for $100 to a passing whitey, so I'd imagine there's a bulk buyers discount available somewhere.

this was weed brought down from Laos and they were busted with packaging equipment as well,
it is obviously for export not rag weed for local consumption

if anyone lost a 2 ton shipment, its not merely a drop in the ocean and they will be very pissed as there was lots of time/effort /$$ involved.

ahh the stories i could tell but....... :beer3:

It seems a bit odd to declare that 'Oh no this is evil Laotian weed, definitely not planted in clean Cambodian soil, no way!"

Obviously, having read Howard Marks, I fully understand that anything is possible. It's just that's quite a large shipment of stinking stuff to transport over the border and all the way down to PP.

But, anything can/will happen with reefer madness and stuff.

as i said; some one is going to be hurt with this loss
The raids netted 1,487 kilograms of dried marijuana and 1.5 kilograms of concentrated marijuana oil, along with equipment for processing the drug.
“It was [put in] a high-tech wrapping in order to distribute it to the third countries for a high price.
The seized marijuana costs about $7 million, and for the seized marijuana oil, it is estimated that it costs $50 per gram” for a total of $75,000, Saman said.
According to Saman, the people behind the alleged smuggling ring are believed to be based in Europe, though police had previously believed the drugs would be distributed locally.
Prices a bit off but still ....
