Food: 4.3/5
Service: 4.5/5
Value for money: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4/5

I am not sure if this is an international chain or just in Cambodia, where they have 5 restaurants. I have only ever been to the Riverside branch, right opposite the Hotel Cambodiana. Convenient for me and I have eaten there 30+ times in the last couple of years.

Service is fast, but one could always read a Manga whilst waiting.

I have been to Japan just once, but this restaurant is exactly like the Ramen restaurants I remember from there, right down to the shelf with Mangas and The Beatles playing on a loop. Oh, and all the staff shouting “irasshaimase” when walking in.

I do not remember not seeing Japanese customers in there, surely a good sign. The restaurant is basic but cozy enough. Focus is on Ramen, but they do actually have plenty of other dishes on offer. This is Japanese soul food right there and absolutely hits the spot after a couple of beers.

Of course, the chopsticks are wrapped.

This being Japanese run, the service is very attentive, the place is spotless, and the food very tasty. They do cater to people that like their Ramen a little less salty, the regular version is on the salty side, but this was the case in Japan, too.

Oh-Gon Ramen

More often than not, I go for the Oh-Gon Ramen, which is $7.90 for a big bowl and apparently only available at the Riverside branch. The last time we went, we also had the “soupless” noodle (it does actually have some soup ($5.50), cold Ramen ($4.75), and shrimp dumplings ($3.75). Every single dish was very good, though I am not a fan of cold Ramen personally.

Cold Ramen are not for me.

Soft drinks and juices are $1.50, as is ice-cold draft beer. Plenty of Sake options, both by the glass and the bottle. Prices do not include 10% VAT.

Good dumplings.

Shangri-La is well worth a visit for that quick Ramen, or indeed Japanese food fix.

Regular Ramen.

I lived in japan a couple of years and the japanese ramen can’t be beat
if you have that urge for it , I been to at least one supposedly “ nice “ place here
in cambrodia and can’t imagine going back .. it’s the soup .
But if I need ramen …. japanese style .
There is a similar type shop here in siem reap if you ever want to try it
I drove by accidentally and “ found “ , tried it , & been there twice , and it’s great 👍 .
Check it out on face book …

How long before the actual Shangri-La Hotel has this renamed ... #KoW
Meum est propositum in taberna mori,
ut sint Guinness proxima morientis ori.
tunc cantabunt letius angelorum chori:
"Sit Deus propitius huic potatori."
