Ned Kelly (American Expat) Reportedly Died in Cambodia

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

I met Ned st at the newspaper and in the club. I can't believe it. He was not so old as late forties to my eye. A sporting and very bright guy. Great musician... How sad.

Really sad to hear had a chance to photograph him playing bass a few times at some gigs. May his soul find peace🙏

Used to see him play a lot at Sharkys when the Heavy Metal scene was attempting to grow, some ten plus years ago. He was...a character for sure. He lasted a lot longer than I thought he would...he lived as he pleased...which is all we can ask for. RIP

I'd guess he was in his late 40s? I knew him but he was a bit of an oddball. RIP.
'Bit of an oddball', hmmm, I hope you meant that in a positive way, which expat in Cambodia is not? incredibly creative and intelligent, and a genuinely nice person at heart
For obvious reasons I was being vague. You probably didn't know him very well and I'll leave it at that. ☠️
Well, if you're going to be "vague" about it, why post the comment at all?

Doc asked about his age and cause of death. Not what you thought of him personally.

Maybe JB was his mate, did either you are total nutter even know him?

Why does the death of an expat bring out so many dumb comments. Oh, I am offended for Doc67 I must tell everyone. :please:

good write up

A fixture of the Phnom Penh music scene passed away yesterday.

Ned Kelly was well known as the bassist of hardcore bands Blood Bricks, Nightmare A.D., Soselo Summer and Sangvar Day and was and advocate for the underground rock music scene in Cambodia, promoting gigs in Phnom Penh and elsewhere in Cambodia and South East Asia.

His death was announced via the Counterculture Cambodia (Underground/Indie Music) facebook group, of which he was the administrator.
