Yes I have a line item for cleaning, but if I wanted a bit of a aministrative assistant, I might change it to 'Cleaning/Domestic'. I would like to hire a housekeeper who is flexible enough that could also run some errands and do other tasks as needed.

Looking at the Richard's Carlin vid on 'stuff': I wrote down all stuff he said was essential:

money
keys
comb
wallet
hanky
pens
cigarrettes
contraceptives
vaseline
whips
chains
whistles
dildos
book

I don't know how old the vid is but Carlin died in 2008. Plastic has replaced money, and often keys. I don't need a comb and no one knows what a hanky is. Phones have replaced pens, books, cameras etc. I don't smoke and there are 5 unnecessary paraphernalia of sexual activity (put there for fun), except condoms.
A Hanky is a Handkerchief, and is definitely a handy item, especially in a country where napkins are the size of a post it note. I usually travel with a small hand towel in yy bag and/or a Krama to wipe the sweat and such. Thats my hanky. Some wet wipes are also handy.

Out of that list I would use:

money/plastic
keys
comb
wallet/billfold
hanky/krama
pens/notebook
book

I'm overspending though, could live with much less, but it's like I acquire expenses the way some people acquire belongings.
Impressive you run a household with 'staff' for $1000/mo. Im guessing that you own your home or pay no rent? Im curious about your staff and Domestic arrangements if you are willing to share.
Living in Kampot helps a lot, rent is cheaper here in general and I scored a sweet deal during the whole covid episode.

In PP that probably wouldn't even cover the house..

Maybe it was long overdue, maybe it's still a good price, maybe I'm just a grumpy old loser.

Just saying it ain't getting any cheaper living out here
I actually find cooking at home quite convenient - but living in the west its also a must for the economy of it all. But in that TaBarang video, the dude said he can do food for about $15 a day - then said thats $600/mo haha couldnt do the math on the spot. So thats $5X3 meals a day. I think I would budget $20 a day, knowing I would not spend that all the days and then some days may splurge a bit more.
You must be very excited to be soon living the good life .

I don't carry a phone around me everywhere I go either because I'm not a 13-year-old girl - but I find I have to have one - I mean have to. One time they wouldn't let me into departures in Bkk airport to get to Pnh because I had to prove I had an electronic ticket. Though a phone saves carrying a lot of other stuff.

Odd how there are indications of a general assumption that the . . . But a professional Girlfriend - Saungsa Atit - if chosen well, can be a great asset . . . that I mentioned would be a Hooker or common bar girl. Being a gentleman of some discernment, albeit of limited financial means, I keep better company.

Earlier this year on two of my visits to Battambang in October two young women on finding that I was unaccompanied enquired about my Cambodian female companion and, on learning that there was no one fitting that description offered to live with me. Then in November another such offer was made to me by a different Cambodian woman. You may be disappointed to know that I declined all three offers.

But earlier in 2024 and at dinner in Phnom Penh with good, well educated female company, a woman in the group who I had never met before, and on learning that I have been working in Cambodia for 32 years, immediately exclaimed . . . So why are you unaccompanied tonight? A perfectly reasonable question for a broad-minded Cambodian (or Asian) woman. Some Cambodian women at many levels of society can and do have a flexible attitude to "Relationships". Not so very different in fact to the situation after the Great War to end all wars, and after the second World War and a shortage of suitable/eligible males.

If you live in Phnom penh you can get apartment in Boeng Tumpun for 150$/month and a grilled chicken leg with rice is still only 1,5$.

Spending 20$ a day on food is for a tourist budget where the person refuse to eat anything but western food. Why are you even here then?

I spend 350 a month for a 2 room condo in Phnom Penh including electricity, gym, saunda, pool and parkingspace for my car. Then i spend about 150 a month on food + extra when i eat out but i see that as a option so i its not really in the budget but is spent from the money that is left over from the budget.

Going out, buying hookers and eating fancy meals is not part of a cost to live budget. Those are extra options and not a actual cost of living.

So it's actually a "cost to survive" budget?

Not much gentlemen of your caliber in my social circles, but I do meet a fair amount of ex ladybar cashiers.

There might be a bit of a language barrier involved.

I'm just a simple man, if I can straight up pay a girl in cash to put my dick in her then she's a hooker to me.

Other people look at it differently, it's all good.
