This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! But on reflection, I think the correct Line Item should be . . . Domestic Services. A very flexible terminology.

I don't think getting a hooker by the month is a great option though, those girls are pretty territorial so it limits what you can do in your own house.

Better have professional staff and bring about any girls of your choosing at the time of your choosing.

Each unto their own ItWasntMe.

But a professional Girlfriend - Saungsa Atit - if chosen well, can be a great asset. But if you are inclined to the smorgasbords view of life then your proposed course of action is better for you.

My home is my castle and there is no drama allowed in here.
I keep it tidy and professional.

Judging from observations, my life is very simple compared to many of my fellow expats who have chosen to pay for "loving" relationships.

I don't get a lot of sex though that's true, but I'm way past the age of being bothered.

Each to their own, I agree, but it's not just about the "smorgasbord".

Agreed - I am the same. But what is your budget?

My house and staff runs around $1k a month.
I'm overspending though, could live with much less, but it's like I acquire expenses the way some people acquire belongings.

Yeah I think that kind of arrangement was a lot more popular in OML's generation than it is today.

Let's assume for one second that I would be interested in having a paid companion. Then, for me, the biggest benefit would be that I can get rid of her at any moment and without any drama, just by taking out my wallet and paying the fee due.

Why anyone would be dumb enough to have her stick around for days or weeks (with all the uncalled-for drama that comes with it) is beyond me.

I've never despised hookers. I've never despised whore-mongers. But I have zero respect for muppets who make a hooker their girlfriend or wife.

I wouldn't go that far, understandably there are people who for various reasons see that as a viable option for finding a companion. I don't recommend it, but see no reason to disrespect someone just cause they're not compatible with "regular women". Who knows what their story is.

But I do find it funny that many of these guys come here complaining about western women, then they pay some worn out bar girl to be their girlfriends, and proceed to spend all their time complaining about how troublesome their new girlfriends are.

It's like what they're really looking for is something normal, having a girlfriend, having domestic issues, making up again, whatever. That's the point, and since your girlfriend in this case barely understands you, telling strangers at the bar becomes the point :beer3:

No offense to anyone, it's just an observation of human nature.

Impressive you run a household with 'staff' for $1000/mo. Im guessing that you own your home or pay no rent? Im curious about your staff and Domestic arrangements if you are willing to share.

Great stuff guy... I mean it's hard to get rid of stuff. But I wouldn't recommend a live-in hooker as part of a budget, you pay them to go away.

Looking at the Richard's Carlin vid on 'stuff': I wrote down all stuff he said was essential:

money
keys
comb
wallet
hanky
pens
cigarrettes
contraceptives
vaseline
whips
chains
whistles
dildos
book

I don't know how old the vid is but Carlin died in 2008. Plastic has replaced money, and often keys. I don't need a comb and no one knows what a hanky is. Phones have replaced pens, books, cameras etc. I don't smoke and there are 5 unnecessary paraphernalia of sexual activity (put there for fun), except condoms.
