Did a high end local "international school" let a 30+ year old Brit enroll because he identifies as a 7 year old girl?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. Did a high end local "international school" let a 30+ year old Brit enroll because he identifies as a 7 year old girl?

Post by Cam Nivag »

I heard a totally insane story from a semi-reliable source, and where better to post it and seek verification than here on CEO.

My contact says that last year, an international school in Phnom Penh that costs like $15,000 - $20,000 a year allowed a thirtysomething year-old Englishman to enroll and attend classes with kids because he said he identified as a 7 year old girl.

Some rich Cambodian parents pulled their kids from the class/school. The school defended the decision to enroll him, saying it was an issue of tolerance/inclusivity.

Has anyone heard anything about this or is my source full of sh*t?

I've verified this as true. His name is Billy Maddison.

Good joke.

Your profile pic indicates you are projecting your desires on to Billy and your Moniker is a palindrome: Gavin Mac? I think we should be told.
😁

I'm not joking at all. I heard this from someone in Cambodia.

I think we're going to need NKOTBs missus to shed some clarity on this.

And why would the missus care about all this?

She went to ACE to increase her English and integrate into Western society. Not to some 20K a year school of the elites. She went to Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan as stepping stones for the transition and pad her visa application. Not vacation or university in Oxford or the Sorbonne.

Today, she was showing me the Khmer lady on Facebook eating the inside of a cow horn.

I reckon it’s nonsense.

Khmer folk don't understand ‘identifies as’ nor would they entertain or pander to someone claiming it. It would have been all over social media within days.

It's an international school presumably run by white people from the liberal Western country with which the school is affiliated.

You are shitting us. A reverse image search shows it's a pic from a movie promotion.
