Debating with MAGA cult members is a fruitless exercise. I'm just going to wait for the schadenfreude that will inevitably come next year when you finally realize you voted for a disaster and egg prices skyrocket. ![Yep :plus1:](./images/smilies/plus1lol.gif)

Ah.. the ol' "you're not worth my time" with a slight ad hominem attached to it in the derogatory use of the term "MAGA"John Bingham wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 4:30 pm Debating with MAGA cult members is a fruitless exercise. This is not how a debate or discussion should unfold.
Positions taken by one party that are refuted by another need to be substantiated by a clear and reasoned argument.
Taking the position that an opposing view is "not worth my time" is pitiful and adds weight to the premise that you are unable to refute the claims I made (that of double standards).
I honestly expected better from you JB. Seems my challenge of finding out if the Zuck, Gates or Soros had ever donated to rightwing causes in Europe was too much for you.
Therefor, my point stands : having a go at Musk while ignoring Soros is a double standard
Since you seem unwilling or unable to refute my claim of a double standard.
Your response (or lack of) will most likely be a derisory comment aimed at assuring the reader this is all below you ... or a simple "whatever".
So you can still claim the moral high ground whilst refusing to substantiate your positions.

Outrage as Elon Musk claims ‘only AfD can save Germany’
German health minister calls US billionaire’s intervention weeks before election ‘undignified and problematic’
Fox NewsElon Musk has caused outrage in Berlin after appearing to endorse the far-right, anti-immigrant Alternative für Deutschland.
Musk, who has been named by Donald Trump to co-lead a commission aimed at reducing the size of the US federal government, wrote on his social media platform X: “Only the AfD can save Germany.”
He reposted a video by a German rightwing influencer, Naomi Seibt, who criticised Friedrich Merz, the leader of the conservative Christian Democrats who has the best chance of becoming the next German chancellor, and praised Javier Milei, the libertarian president of Argentina.
The German health minister, Karl Lauterbach, called Musk’s decision to wade into the German political debate weeks before the snap election “undignified and highly problematic”.
Concept of thoughts and prayers.

Re: What is Musk up to?
i was NOT having a go at musk, just asking what is he up to>
Rather than the obvious, ( behind the scene power)
I think trump and he will have a falling out soon, Trump does not take kindly to being upstaged
This is NOT about zuker, soros or anyone else, past or present

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Double standards at play.
You see he IS "up to" exactly the same thing Soros, Gates and Zuck have done in the past. Simply saying this is not about those other 3 is an attempt to shut down discourse by ignoring their past actions and allegiances.
The one point I think most will agree with is that Trump doesn't like to be upstaged. But, Musk is smarter than your average DC dweller and may well be aware of this and act accordingly by having Trump take credit for his ideas and proposals. But, we'll see how it all plays out.

Re: What is Musk up to?
Musk is no philanthropist- he's a spoilt rich kid with more money than braincells (and I'd give that he's a pretty smart guy).
He's fucking with everyone- the ultimate troll, smoking weed with Joe Rogan and buying Twitter with a sink and $44bn.
It's a bit funny, but also pretty serious stuff.
Also: the MAGA loons always say 'Soros this, Bill Gates that' and use shit like democracy, the arts, racial equality, education healthcare and OMG vaccines as evidence of a NWO, while Musk is already way ahead with literal brain chipping tech, sky control, full AI etc, and would happily fuck off to Mars on the dawn of apocalypse.
I'm not hanging with any of these fringe beliefs, but man, the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled and that...

Re: What is Musk up to?
Why is it assumed that an opposing viewpoint must be a MAGA loon or cultist? Not everyone who wants to MAGA (or see it MAGAd is a loon. And not everyone with an interest in the politics is a yank. I’m not sure why MAGA has been brought into this as being a negative position at all.
It might be that it’s a Saturday night, and the hooch is open…

To be fair it's not only MAGA loons who criticize Soros. He's a common target of all sorts of other loons too. Anyway we can all agree that Soros has been meddling in politics for decades. No bout adought it. Now let's get back on topic. Leon Musk.

Do real sensible people really think that Elon Musk is a good thing for American/world politics?Freightdog wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 6:26 pm Why is it assumed that an opposing viewpoint must be a MAGA loon or cultist? No doubt he's good at business and sending rockets to space, but able to brazenly dictate policy to congress (which now appears to have failed) is, well, loon territory tbh. Elect him, or tell him to STFU.
It's not a left/right issue really, but common sense.
Re: What is Musk up to?
So your issue is with him being un-elected? And the follow on from that being that only elected people (politicians, presidents etc) are good for the world/politics.Cameron Newbe wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 6:40 pm

At best Musk is currently a glorified advisor to the president. Not something unusual or remarkable in its own right tbh.
And then from this we can segue to the whole lobbying circus that has engulfed DC.
Where do they (America) draw the line?
I can't see having advisors who are unelected being prevented from advising and the lobbying outfits are here to stay, love 'em or hate 'em.
Europe is currently plagued by un-elected bureaucrats in the form of the European Commission which is a whole body that is appointed by the European Council but that, while mirroring the topic at hand, is probably not worth digressing into.
