greeting in your culture

Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

Cambodian men might not hug each other for greetings but compensate by spooning a lot on morbikes

so true haha. it would be really bizarre to see two Cambodian men hugging each other. I have never hugged my Cambodian friends, no matter how close we are.

If you know a lot, know enough to make them respect you, if you are stupid, be stupid enough so they can pity you.

Yes, I never see they hug each other too. It is just informal of our greeting, but formal way is Som Pah.

It's very interesting to know different ways of greeting in your cultures. I think NZ and Eskimo greeting are similar.

Yes, some cultures are great! I admit hugging is the best greeting when you are not in your home country. It really reduces homesick. :friends:

This video reminded me when i was on Koh Rong there were two people, one man and one woman playing this game on the beach. Yes i did hugged them both. This was kinda funny for me as i have never experienced anything like this. It was really new to me.

I think Cambodians might think that i am stupid if i play this game with them.
