Immigration app

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Same here, except nobody ask to show QR code.
They didn't ask me either, I showed it and asked them if they shouldn't scan it or something and they declined :unknown:

Nobody cares about it, when they scan your passport the provided data will pop up, or won't. In which case they will turn you down and send you off to fill in your data in one of the tablets.

The purpose of finetuning a product such as this after it’s been up and running for a while is to iron out anything not identified during concept and development. However, rather than improving the functionality, it appears they’ve made it worse. When the site/app says surname ‘optional’ (this is probably just for first timers, if you’ve already got a visa it’s probably easier) I think what they really mean is your given name is optional. But because Cambodia naming convention is family name followed by given name, they’ve applied that form to Western naming protocols and looked at the surname as the given name. So instead, they’re asking for Bill rather than Shakey when what they really want is Shakey not Bill.
They’re going to have to fix it as it will cause a lot of confusion and they won’t even be capturing the details they’re after. But I don’t know how you feed that back to them?

I can’t even open the app now on iOS. Just immediately crashes.

Anyone else?

I'd imagine that the surname is an optional field because some nationalities (e.g. Indonesian) don't necessarily have surnames. That has caused issues elsewhere, too.

In other words, it's only optional if you don't have one. If you do have a surname, you do need to fill it in.

It does make sense to me, but obviously, the UX is very poor.

I have opened the e-Arrival App for giggles. I don't understand under Contact Information (lower portion of the App) -

Phone Number -
can this be a phone number outside Cambodia. If it is one's first time visiting they would not have a Cambodian phone number.

Personal Contact *required -
who's name would go here if I have no Cambodian contact.?

Don't hire "native speakers" sleeping it off at the bus station in Bangladesh.

Hire a US/Can/Aus/uk high school graduate for $100.

The new update have a bug. (maybe more)

I have a new passport so I had to make a new profile.
I tried several times to fill in the e-Arrival form and every time end up on the pay for e-Visa 36US.
There is no way to choose VOA, only different Visa types T, E, K, D.
The "trick" is to choose Visa K, then U can finish the registration.

I arrived yesterday 17/9.

New is also that I could pay with CC. No extra fee. Just 30US.

Almost immediately after I payed I got the passport back with just a small sticker with a QR-code.

No more FullPage VISA. No more stamps. Just a small sticker.

No more standing in line and wait for passport.

Very smooth!

Can you scan the QR code and see what it stands for? Visa type, expiry date, that kind of stuff?
