I quite liked the staff. I woke early to check out the breakfast buffet, but it looked terrible, so I never got anything else there.Anchor Moy wrote:Are they still charging $2 for crap coffee ?
If it's the people I know, they are great when they know you, but otherwise as tight as...
I made sure the charge was talking about in your "room" and they confirmed it was.Cam Nivag wrote:My guess, and this is only a guess, is that this rule is meant to apply to outside food/drink consumed in the hotel's restaurants/common areas or something like that, and that the rule is just written in an unclear way. I can't imagine that they actually charge people for bringing food up to their rooms. I don't know though.
Well, it worked.logos wrote:It's probably a way to prevent guests like GM turning their rooms into KTV halls

Ha! Definitely post it there! Would like to see what they think. And yeah, post the link here so we can find it.wackyjacky wrote:You should post this on Flyertalk GM. It would start an epic shitstorm. I'll do it for you if you want.
I'd love to stay at LoneStar, several friends stay there every time they visit Phnom Penh.wackyjacky wrote:I'd see if the Lone Star would give you a monthly deal too. The rooms are big and have a kitchen, though no burners or cookware. I think they're a bargain at $25/night.
My only problem is that I know the whole family, staff and lots of the regulars, and I'm just too shy to do my "walk of shame" through there during lunch time every day, LoL.

I understand fully hotel and guesthouse operators not wanting Durian fruit in the room but I'll be damned if I let them tell me I can't take food and beer from outside up to my room. The owner operators should realize I can go to any number of other guest houses so why would I stay there if they're going to charge me essentially corkage fees.

no need to be shy at Lonestar.
my regular choice when i need a hotel.
it is a family place so they have seen it all.
sundance riverside ( ex cali 2 ) has room specials for $17 now too.
the food there has vastly improved in the last 2 months. they got in a qualified chef to retrain new staff members, and i think changed some of the food suppliers.
how did you happen to choose that crazy place?

^^^^^No need for US to be shy at LS. I could see why GM would want some anonymity when he's dragging his 'trollope des soir' through the bar. However, if one just trolls a little later, after midnight there's nobody in the place, and after that you have to wake the tuk tuk guy up to get in. Shame eliminated. The problem with Lux I found was that it's actually too close to the action. Your dates from the previous nights get to spy on your pick that night.

Just send her out by herself and saunter down a half hour later.

If the reception staff are on the ball, they will call your room as soon as they see the girl and ask if the slapper has taken anything from your room.wackyjacky wrote:Just send her out by herself and saunter down a half hour later.

not like a 300 room hotel
Nothing funnier on the eyes than seeing some guy at breakfast with a girl dressed up for the bar the night before
