Cambodia Approves 44 Investment Projects Worth $396 Million in July 2024
[CAMBODIA NEWS] The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has approved 44 investment projects worth approximately $396 million in July 2024, potentially creating 25,000 new jobs.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the CDC announced the approval of 41 new projects and 3 expansion projects during the month of July. These investments are expected to significantly boost Cambodia's economic growth and employment opportunities.
Of the total projects, 31 are located outside special economic zones, while 13 are situated within these zones. The investments span various sectors, demonstrating Cambodia's diverse economic landscape.
Notable projects approved in July include:
1. An expansion of a laundry, dyeing, and printing factory in Kampong Speu province, with an additional investment of over $21 million, creating 74 new jobs.
2. The establishment of the Koh Kong Chejiang Special Economic Zone in Koh Kong province, with an investment of $100 million, expected to generate 331 jobs.
3. A new factory producing food processing ingredients (Gelatin) in the Koh Kong Chejiang Special Economic Zone, with an investment of over $26 million, creating 194 jobs.
The CDC also noted that Chinese investments dominated in July 2024, accounting for 68.06% of the total investment capital. Domestic investments followed, comprising 14.24% of the total.
These approvals reflect Cambodia's ongoing efforts to attract foreign and domestic investments, diversify its economy, and create employment opportunities for its growing workforce.
