On August 5, 2024, at approximately 10:40 AM, the Anti-Drug Department of the Cambodian National Police conducted a successful operation targeting drug trafficking in the capital city, which resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old Taiwanese man identified as Tseng Chih Hsiang.

Authorities seized over 18 kilograms of ketamine and 952 grams of chemical precursors during raids at two locations: one near the Casa Hotel on Betong Street in Tonle Bassac, and another at a condominium on Street 370 in BKK1.

The suspect and evidence have been handed over to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for further legal proceedings. Investigators are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in the drug trafficking network.

This operation is part of the Cambodian government's intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking under the leadership of Prime Minister HM. The National Police Chief has ordered a strict crackdown on drug-related crimes, with the Anti-Drug Department pledging to eradicate drug trafficking networks throughout the country.

In the first seven months of 2024, the Anti-Drug Department has reported several major drug busts, seizing over 5 tons of illicit substances and arresting numerous suspects.
