Direct Flights to Connect Siem Reap and Hong Kong Under Consideration
Siem Reap Airport May Welcome Direct Hong Kong Flights
[CAMBODIA NEWS] Cambodia is intensifying its collaboration with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, focusing on high-potential sectors, particularly business and investment. The two parties are also exploring the possibility of establishing direct flights from Hong Kong to Siem Reap, Cambodia.
This development emerged from a meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister HM and Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John KC Lee at the Peace Palace on July 31, 2024. Both leaders viewed this as a new opportunity for businesses and investors to enhance cooperation between Cambodia and Hong Kong SAR.
Chief Executive Lee expressed that the primary purpose of his visit was to strengthen and expand ties between Hong Kong SAR and Cambodia, especially in business, investment, and people-to-people connections. Representatives from major Hong Kong companies accompanied Lee on this visit, expressing gratitude for the Cambodian government's support of Hong Kong investors and entrepreneurs.
The discussions between Prime Minister HM and Chief Executive Lee centered on reinforcing and expanding relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Hong Kong SAR. They focused on several potential sectors, including trade and investment, finance and banking, technology and digital economy, tourism, education, and people-to-people connections.
Prime Minister HM highlighted Cambodia's policies and mechanisms aimed at creating and improving a favorable environment for investment in the country.
During the meeting, both leaders witnessed the exchange of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). The first MoU was between Invest Hong Kong of the Hong Kong SAR and the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). The second was between the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the CDC.
