Taking Cigarettes o/s

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I usually take 2 cartons back & put them at the bottom of the checked in luggage. At the top of my luggage I will place some sort of wooden souvenirs & declare them. At the customs desk I will put the bag on the counter and open it showing them the wooden souvenirs. They ask if I have anything else to declare and I say no & go on my way.
In Australia I usually smoke rolling tobacco as Tailor made cigarettes are way too expensive. There are a lot of tobaconist selling black market cigs, Chinese 20 pack for about $17.

Exactly the type of uninformed and ill-conceived approach that has led us to the current crisis in addiction, drug abuse and cartel violence. Do you think that heroin and fentanyl abuse is actually going down the way it is currently "dealt" with?

A friend who travels from Cambodia to Oz several times a year only carries a small backpack with 8-10 cartons as he is a heavy smoker on a pension. His age and travel history sees him always waved thru.

But makes you wonder - at 500 a carton - even if you sell 1/2 price it is a good earner.

As I understand it, if detected, you can either pay the tax or have the goods seized.

Tobacco would stand out like dogs balls in the x-ray machine.
That's why I suggest you have something else to declare!

If caught and you didn't declare then usually you will be fined and have them confiscated....you only have the option to pay the taxes and keep them if you declare them
