Chinese and Malaysian Nationals Arrested in Phnom Penh Drug Raid

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the morning of March 15, 2024, senior police officers from the Anti-Drug Department confirmed that four Chinese and Malaysian individuals have been sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. They were in addition to 33 foreigners who were expelled from Cambodia after an Anti-Drug Department campaign that targeted drug trafficking at the former City of Starry Sky Club (formally known as the 'BOEING CLUB') entertainment venue in Sangkat Chaktomuk, Khan Daun Penh. Authorities discovered nearly 5 kg of drugs during the operation.

The crackdown was carried out in accordance with orders from General Sar Thet, the National Police Commissioner General, and supervised by Lt. Gen. Bun Pa Marilux, General Prum Santhor. The operation was led by Lt. Gen. Kheung Sarath, the Director of the Department of Anti-Drug Crimes, in collaboration with Phnom Penh Municipal Police.

The suspects sent to the court are Malaysian national Teoh Kin Hong (Zhang Jing Kang), Chinese nationals Yang Ming Liang and Jiang Wei, and Chinese DJ Zhang Yong Lin. The evidence seized included over 4 kg of MDMA and ketamine.

Additionally, 35 individuals involved in drug use, including Cambodians, Chinese, and Vietnamese nationals, were either sent to treatment centers or deported from Cambodia. This operation follows a previous drug bust at the same venue in October 2023.
