Over a period of time Ive collected alot of 1$ Cambodian beer ring pull tabs. Went to my to my regular local mom and pop to trade them in . For each 1$ (4000 riel) they want to give me 3000 and they keep 1000, (25%). Is that the going rate? .Thanks

You can save up your $1 and $2 and use them to trade in a case of 24 freebies and not pay anything. But they will always take the commission.

Yes, that’s about right. Get charged 500 riel for every free can on a pull tab.

My place gives me 2 free for a $1 winner , minus the 500 reil each .
It’s weird now they sell 1 can for 2,500 , or 2 for 4,500.
So best 2 always get 2 at a time , nobody wants them 100 reils
I would get 1 can at a time just to get rid of them pesky 100’s .
I had a few big winners for 50,000 and $20 and the guy I sent to trade them in absconded..
beer here ( cambodian ) is so good I can’t quit , whenever I spend for a imported or craft beer for
$4 or more it goes down so fast I feel it’s a ripoff

Yeah, typically 200 or 500r to change a winning pull

But if it's a smaller shop they may charge more as they will be cashing them in themselves & they aren't doing it for free

An economy student could write a dissertation on the pulltab economy here; they are effectively currency at this stage between the beer and the beverage companies

Don't store 'm for too long, every once in a while (a year?) they change the pictograms on the tabs and the old ones become worthless.
