ABA App possibly hacked
My ABA app might have been hacked. My iPhone went black today and then suddenly turned on. But that is not the only thing that is making me suspicious. When I went to use my ABA app, it asked me to make sure and check if the names matched the account I was sending money to. Then I noticed a setting called "favorite friends" was on my account and I opened it. Two names and account numbers were there and I did not know who they were. I took a screenshot and turned off my phone. I got my ATM card and went and took the meager amount I kept in that awful bank. I searched this website and saw some other people write about it. I would not trust anything about this bank.

I can t alas say anything good about this bank .Like more than 10 peoples who were on the last 2 years drugged and robbed by a gang collecting our money to transfer or at ATM s the ABA bank did nt really do anything to help us like customers .Their security is very weak.

Re: ABA App possibly hacked
I have a funny/interesting ABA comment ... When I first arrive here just about 1 year ago (new bee) ... I asked around about banks ... everybody said get ABA ... so I did ... the ABA gal said come back in three days to sign for your ABA card ... so I did ... but the story gets weird here ... I cannot sign the same signature sometimes due to a neurological condition (Shakey-Jake) that I struggle with ... so it became a big deal that my signature was not exactly the same when I was trying to receive my ABA card ... still I do not have it. So be it.

Lol. Is it Tuesday meth day or something?
So someone is drugged and robbed and it's somehow the banks fault. Righto.
The APP asked you to check the names before sending, which it always has done, so therefore it must have been hacked. APPs cannot be "hacked" unless someone has your phone and pin then they can access to your meagre savings.

I was wondering about inputting the name as well, since this needs to be done every time a transaction is done. I came to the conclusion, that it might have happened right after he had opend the app, without triggering anything - basically someone got disturbed while doing a transfer. 2 favorites, I guess those were some transactions he made in the past and accidentally activated the option "save as a favorit". The the screen of the phone went black and it restarted - it does indeed not happen very often, but mine crashes this way once in a month or so as well
Driving on Cambodian roads is just like playing a classic arcade top scroller. The only difference is a force feedback controller, the limitation to only one life and the inability to restart, once Game Over

I've heard many such tales, and it's generally the user who got "hacked" (or simply confused), not the app.
Of course in the scenario above about being drugged and robbed, if those drugs compel you to comply with a request to hand over your phone and PIN, that's worse than having to hand over cash, but what could the bank possibly do about that?

However, unless your number isn't actually registered at the phone company in your name that isn't likely to happen
ABA are secure - I use their services constantly - and there have been four or five times where an amount was debited incorrectly or in error but it's always been made right automatically within 24 hours
Their branch staff typically suck but that's a global issue

And don't forget all the claims that ABA ATM's dole out fake $100's, until we ask them if they have visited a $5 massage parlour lately. Lo and behold, they admit they have or they suddenly go all coy and never post again.Alex wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 8:24 am I've heard many such tales, and it's generally the user who got "hacked" (or simply confused), not the app.

Poor old ABA. They have a great app that works 100% perfectly for 99.999% of their happy customers. However, when you deal with tens of thousands of people, sooner or later you will have one who posts paranoid nonsense about theiriPhone having a brain fart, their lack of understanding of how the app works and somehow concludes their ABA APP "might" have been hacked, with no supporting evidence whatsoever.
Re: ABA App possibly hacked
For the last 2 years in Pnom penh and Siam Reap a gang of thieves operated. They drugged 20 foreigners took control of ours phones and were able to get our Pin numbers .Many of us on a ABA account .The amount for each of us of the stolen money was between 5k and 56 k.ABA asked us to report to police .We did for many of us even with the extra amount of money to pay to make the police take ours complaints .ABA did nothing to help us like customers .Sure the ABA application seems nice but its very easy to hack it and they don t even ask for a password to protect the money transfer out of your account .
Re: ABA App possibly hacked
Sorry but your account wasn't hacked, it was accessed through the app on your phone.
