5 Taiwanese Men Arrested in Cambodia with Drugs and Guns
Cambodia News (Svay Rieng Province): In a recent operation on January 5-6, 2024, the police in Svay Rieng Province launched a comprehensive effort to combat drug trafficking, unauthorized possession and use of firearms, and ammunition. The Provincial Anti-Drug Police Force, in collaboration with the Bavet City Police Inspectorate, conducted the operation in a rental building located in Bavet Kandal Village, Sangkat Bavet, Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province, where they arrested 5 Taiwanese men.
During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated 15 packs of ketamine weighing 2245.06 grams (2 kg 245.06 grams), 39.01 grams of ecstasy tablets, four drug scales, several firearms and numerous rounds of ammunition, two sets of speakers, 31 mobile phones, one laptop, 19 passports, and $2,000, in addition to two cars.
Following the operation, the suspects and the seized exhibits were transferred to the Svay Rieng Provincial Court for legal proceedings on January 11, 2024. This operation was conducted in accordance with the strict orders of Major General Pich Vir, Svay Rieng Provincial Police Commissioner, under the direct command of Brigadier General Keo Sotha, Deputy Commissioner for the Anti-Drug Action Plan, and with the direct coordination of HE Kham Sophary, Prosecutor, and Mr. Huot Vichet, Deputy Prosecutor of the Svay Rieng Provincial Court. This initiative underlines a concerted effort by law enforcement to tackle drug trafficking and illicit possession of firearms in the region.
