The Man Friday soliloquies.

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

I follow his channel and agree, he does put out some good vlogs. He has a good mix of content - info aimed at people wanting to get their tefl and teach, new guy stuff like rent an apartment, phone plans and useful apps etc, visits to restaurants and bars, and walk and talks live where he answers people's questions and talks about different things.

If you follow the channel though, you're also watching a guy put his dreams into practice. He's a musician and wanted to follow that path so he's got himself involved in several bands and is trying to build the ideal lifestyle for himself - music, start a YT channel that will supplement his income, and teaching part-time so he has income, but still time for the YT and music.
It's good to see a success story playing out, I wish him luck.

Technical study presents positive findings on city light rail in PP, Siem Reap

China Metro Group conducting technical studies on the light rail transit system in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap province has reported a positive move in the studies, citing its commitment to make the projects successful.

The commitment was made during a meeting on Wednesday by Li Kuo, Director-General of the China Metro Group to Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport in Phnom Penh.

During the meeting Li briefed about the positive progress of the studies on two light rail transit development projects, citing that the two light rail transition lines would directly connect the airports to their respective city centres.

First, the light rail transit project connecting Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport to Siem Reap and second Light train transit project connecting Techo Takhmao International Airport to Phnom Penh capital.

The 4F-class Techo Takhmao International Airport, is an international airport, currently under construction in Kandal province of Cambodia, located about 30 kilometres south of Phnom Penh,
The Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, which is built on a 700-hectare plot in Soutr Nikom district, is located about 50 kilometres from Siem Reap City and 40 kilometres from the Angkor Wat temple inside Angkor Park. The airport is set to start operating by mid-October.

“China Metro Group Demonstrates Good Will and Commitment to Promote Light Rail Transit System in Cambodia,” the ministry said.

Ponea lauded the positive move of China Metro Group on the light rail transit systems in Cambodia.

“Both projects will contribute to reducing traffic congestion and provide additional travel options for Cambodians as well as tourists,” Ponea added.

The move comes amid the government luring investors to mega infrastructure, building roads, bridges, ports, railways, expressways, airports, ports and logistics centres.

According to the Comprehensive Master Plan on Cambodia’s Transit and Logistics System 2023-2033, the government is seeking funding sources of approximately $40 billion for the development of 174 prioritized infrastructure projects.

On Monday, Prime Minister HM urged Chinese investors to explore investment opportunities in infrastructure in Cambodia, as the country prioritizes building physical infrastructure in its socio-economic development.

“I would like to invite Chinese investors to place firm trust in the Cambodian government and continue to invest in mega transportation infrastructure in Cambodia,” the Prime Minister added.

'Greatest Unopened Find' of the Century Sells for $3.7M

Saskatchewan family's find could contain dozens of Wayne Gretzky rookie cards

by Rob Quinn
Feb 26, 2024

Heritage Auctions calls it the "greatest unopened find of the 21st century." An unopened case of hockey cards from the 1979-80 season was sold for $3.72 million after a bidding war over the weekend, the Regina Leader-Post reports. The case of O-Pee-Chee cards contains 16 unopened boxes of cards, each holding 48 packs of 14 cards. That adds up to 10,752 cards —and with a total of 396 cards in the set, there's a very strong chance that the buyer has obtained around 27 highly prized Wayne Gretzky rookie cards. The auction house says the box was found by a family in Regina, Saskatchewan, who are "over the moon" about the sale price.

Jason Simonds, a sports cards specialist at the auction house, tells the BBC that it would be "a pretty big statistical anomaly" for the case to hold much fewer than 27 Gretzkys. He says the case was found when a son was helping his father, an "old-school collector," clear out a basement office. He says the father bought the case many years ago, intending to split it up and sell it, but never got around to it. The price, Simonds says, "surpassed our wildest expectations. He tells the CBC that it is "one of the highest-priced items ever sold at Heritage, and it's certainly the highest price sold unopened item in the sports collectibles market."

While many of the cards may be worth next to nothing, Gretzky rookie cards are a worth a lot more than their weight in gold, the Leader-Post notes. Heritage sold one of them for almost $1 million in 2020, and later brokered a $2.9 million sale of a Gretzky card classed as "Gem Mint 10 level." Simonds say the Regina family probably has more big paydays to come. He says they found enough baseball cards to fill up a van, including cases from the late 1970s.

Worst move ever in the fast food landscape

Post by Fridaywithmateo »

Even if I did eat junk food, this STUPID move would ensure I would never eat there again ... #FUGreedyCorporateBastards

Surge pricing is coming to Wendy's. The fast food chain revealed in a recent earnings call that it will start testing dynamic pricing as soon as next year, the New York Times reports. When rolled out, digital menu boards will reflect the current prices of menu items, and those prices will go up and down as demand goes up and down. USA Today, one of multiple media outlets referring to the news as an "Uber-style" move, notes that variable pricing "is fast becoming the norm." While certain industries, like the hotel and airline industries, are expected to price offerings differently based on demand, consumers aren't quite as used to other industries utilizing the practice.

They do, however; prices on Amazon and other online retailers, for example, fluctuate due to algorithms and artificial intelligence that track interest in the product, prices elsewhere online, and other information. And mobile apps make dynamic pricing even easier by utilizing different coupons or offers for different customers. "A lot of this stuff is already happening even if you don't realize that it is happening. If you have the Starbucks app and I have the Starbucks app, we probably have different offers," one expert explains. "We might not be in the drive-through and they just increased the prices, but we are already paying different prices for the same products."

Old news. Dynamic pricing has been around for a great many years; many more than the internet.

But not typically changing minute by minute or hour by hour as the fast food giant is rolling out.

And what about mobile or food delivery? Do one get a surcharge or a refund as the prices change?
