There are thousands more of these:
Fact-checking Trump
edit
Trump's statements as president have engaged a host of fact-checkers. Tony Burman wrote: "The falsehoods and distortions uttered by Trump and his senior officials have particularly inflamed journalists and have been challenged—resulting in a growing prominence of 'fact-checkers' and investigative reporting."[126] The situation got worse over time, as described by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ashley Parker: "President Trump seems to be saying more and more things that aren't true."[127]

Glenn Kessler said in 2017 that in his job as a fact-checker for The Washington Post there was no comparison between Trump and other politicians. Kessler gave his worst rating to other politicians 15 percent to 20 percent of the time, but gave it to Trump 63 percent to 65 percent of the time.[128] Kessler wrote that Trump was the most fact-challenged politician that he had ever encountered and lamented that "the pace and volume of the president's misstatements means that we cannot possibly keep up".[129] Kessler and others have described how Trump's lying has created an alternate/alternative reality.[130][131] David Zurawik says we should "just assume Trump's always lying and fact check him backwards"[132] because that's "how to cover a habitual liar".[133]

The Washington Post fact-checker created a new category of falsehoods in December 2018, the "Bottomless Pinocchio," for falsehoods repeated at least twenty times (so often "that there can be no question the politician is aware his or her facts are wrong"). Trump was the only politician who met the standard of the category, with 14 statements that immediately qualified. According to The Washington Post, Trump repeated some falsehoods so many times he had effectively engaged in disinformation.[17]

On November 15, 2022, almost two years in advance of the 2024 election, Trump announced his candidacy for a second term as president.[448][449][450] His announcement speech at Mar-a-Lago was "full of exaggerated and false talking points"[448] and at least "20 false and misleading claims",[449] uttering the first inaccurate claim "about two minutes in and a few minutes later, tick(ing) off at least four hyperbolic claims about his own accomplishments".[450] The New York Times Fact Check stated that "Mr. Trump repeated many familiar exaggerations about his own achievements, reiterated misleading attacks on political opponents and made dire assessments that were at odds with reality."[450]

Trump's first inaccurate claim, about two minutes in, was that his administration "built the greatest economy in the history of the world", a claim that was inaccurate even for recent American history.[450] Trump wrongly claimed Americans surrendered $85 billion worth of military equipment to the Taliban in the Afghanistan withdrawal; the Defense Department estimate was $7.1 billion, some which was rendered inoperable before the withdrawal.[449] Trump claimed that his administration "filled up" the Strategic Petroleum Reserve but that under Biden it has been "virtually drained"; in fact, the reserve was not "virtually drained" under Biden, and it actually contained less when Trump left office than when he took office.[449] He falsely claimed that climate scientists "say the ocean will rise 1/8 of an inch over the next 200 to 300 years"; NOAA estimated average sea level rise along the U.S. coastline will be 10-12 inches in the next 30 years.[449]

Speaking of border crossings by undocumented aliens, he said "I believe it's 10 million people coming in, not three or four million people", a claim for which there is no empirical basis.[449] Likewise, his claim that the U.S.-Mexico border had been "erased" since Biden was sworn in, was also baseless.[448] Trump falsely heralded completion of his border wall; in fact, the vast majority of the "new" barriers reinforced or replaced existing structures, and only about 47 miles were new primary barriers along the 1,900-mile border.[450]

Trump said "I've gone decades, decades without a war, the first president to do it for that long a period"; however, he presided over U.S. involvement in wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, and was commander-in-chief for dozens of U.S. airstrikes.[449] He claimed that when he began his term the U.S. had jet fighters that were 48 years old (and) bombers that were 60 years old—but not anymore"; in fact, the military continues to use B-52 bombers that are being outfitted with new Rolls-Royce engines to prolong their life even further.[449] Trump was wrong in claiming that the U.S. takes longer than "any" country to count votes, belied by longer times in Indonesia (more than a month in 2019), Afghanistan (five months after a September 2019 vote), and Bosnia (weeks in fall 2022).[450]

Welp … not that any of you care … but, they way I feel about this American Sh*t Sandwich is as follows … Trump is a politician … Biden is a politician … strip away the Blue and the Red and you end up with only this … once you realize what USA politics is … it all of a suddenly makes much more sense … from what I have come to believe about the whole scene in America’s political arena is … “The System” dictates … Only three things are important: #1 Stay in office … #2 Stay in office … #3 Stay in office

Anyone who believes these scumbags are on your side … be it Blue or Red … welp … I feel sorry for you … you’ve been hornswaggled.

#Forthepeoplebythepeople … that is my position and I’m sticking to it!

of course. I live pretty close to it actually. I used to work at Lincoln H.S. which is on Ocean Parkway -- literally across the street from Trump Village.

I live in an area called Sheepshead Bay.

FYI there is nothing to check out tho. I think there was a sign that said "Trump Village" years ago but it's possible that sign was taken down when he became president--
Bro, we've hung out on Coney Island twice now, and you never told me that we were minutes away from a place called Trump Village'? I'm pissed.
damn... i apologize and your right. I am unsure why i didn't bring that up. You sure we didn't talk about it? I can't remember but if you say we didn't.. then I must not of

Perfect reason to make another trip bro!!!.. I will bring more bagels

Well, you have numerous lawsuits that team Trump lost because they failed to provide any proof at all,
Utter bullshit. List the court cases that actually went to trial and where evidence was allowed to be presented so we can review your claims. All the court cases filed to investigate the 2020 election results were not taken up by any courts due to "lack of standing". The person or group filing a lawsuit must first be able to prove they are the harmed party in order for the courts to proceed. But the evidence of election fraud is held by the people who committed the fraud. Election fraud is meant to be investigated by individual states, and the states that committed the fraud have corrupt Democrat governance that refused to take any action, as they were the same people who committed or allowed the fraud.

This is how "transparent ballot counting" was performed in Michigan in 2020, with ballot-counting observers locked out of the counting room "due to emergency Covid pandemic measures" and all glass windows papered-over so nobody locked outside could witness the vote count apparently "to save Democracy".

Oops! "Wisconsin 'lost track' of 82,000 cast paper ballots from storage when ordered to provide election integrity proof for court case preparation in 2021 in a state where Biden "won" by 20,000 votes:
https://www.dailysignal.com/2021/08/27/ ... -by-20000/
Uh huh.

For about 3 years now Trump and a few of his dingbat lawyers have been yelling about the kracken of evidence proving election fraud. They keep promising to release it any day now.... just you wait ... you'll see .... annny daaaay nowwwwww......
And yet they don't, not even a hint of what all that 'evidence' might be. Trump even promised to hold a press conference where he'd prove his case... yeah, he backed out of it. All this while his elected judges, his appointed officials, his advisors, other prominent Republicans, his hired experts and vote auditors all say he clearly lost.
www.cbsnews.com/miami/news/trump-cancel ... -advice-4/

The cases they took, or tried to take to court were largely nonsense with no actual evidence. I'm not interested enough to spend much time on this but a quick google search found this explainer of the individual cases and why they were shot down...

www.news.com.au/world/north-america/us- ... 793f0f6ab3

Flicking through it I had a bit of a laugh at this part, talking about the case heard by Judge Ludwig.

On December 12 – just two days before the electoral college voted – Judge Brett Ludwig rejected a Trump campaign lawsuit which sought to invalidate the result in Wisconsin.

Judge Ludwig, a Trump appointee, noted he had given the President an expedited hearing “on the merits of his claims”.

This is an interesting one. The defendants – a bunch of Wisconsin officials – argued the Trump campaign lacked standing to bring its case.

Judge Ludwig rejected that argument. He gave the campaign the hearing it wanted, where it was free to call witnesses and present evidence.

“On the morning of the hearing, the parties reached an agreement on a stipulated set of facts and then presented arguments to the court,” Judge Ludwig continued.

This means essentially, an agreement between both party’s lawyers about what testimony witness would give and what facts would be established at a hearing.

In an article for the National Review, Republican legal expert Andrew McCarthy, a former prosecutor, explained it like this: “The morning of the hearing, it turned out there was no actual disagreement between the Trump team and Wisconsin officials about the pertinent facts of the case.

“The President’s counsel basically said, ‘Never mind, we don’t need to present all our proof. We’ll just stipulate to all the relevant facts and argue legal principles.’”

So, given a chance to put all that juicy evidence Mr Trump and Mr Giuliani had been talking about before the court, the campaign decided … not to. It just argued legal theory instead.

Judge Ludwig concluded that Mr Trump’s claims failed “as a matter of law and fact”.

“This is an extraordinary case,” he said (emphasis his).

“This court has allowed plaintiff the chance to make his case and he has lost on the merits.”

This is the article summary....

"SO, IS DONALD TRUMP RIGHT?

To put it succinctly, no. The President’s explanation for his record in court does not hold up under scrutiny.

There are certainly isolated cases where judges did not consider the merits of the Trump campaign’s arguments. Specifically, he can point to the US Supreme Court, and that last decision I mentioned from the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Otherwise, even when his campaign’s lawsuits have been rejected for technical reasons – such as a lack of standing, or the laches doctrine – judges have gone out of their way to address the merits of its arguments as well.

On multiple occasions, Mr Trump’s lawyers have been given the opportunity to present their much-hyped evidence in court, and have failed to do so.

When they have offered purported evidence of fraud, such as in Nevada and Michigan, judges have invariably found it unconvincing.

The President is certainly free to disagree with those judgments. But when he says judges refused to even hear the evidence, he is wrong."
A Trumpian strategy lesson (via Roy Cohn) in 3 easy steps:

1. If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts.
2. If you have the law on your side, pound the law.
3. If you have neither the facts nor the law, pound the table.

My PSA was meant as a tongue-in-cheek type joke, not an actual PSA. I admit, I'd had a couple of beers and assumed people would see that from the language, and me inventing some vital organs but I guess not. My bad, I sincerely apologise for any confusion and offense it may have caused and give my assurance that I'll never issue a PSA - joking or otherwise - here again, and that in the future I'll try to be more mindful of my audience when drinking beer and cracking a joke.

I'm not sure what news outlets you're referring to here. What I was referring to though, was the press conference where Trump 'suggested on TV that it was a possible solution to covid'....

www.youtube.com/watch?v=d57zJr82dhQ

... and the resulting warnings from health agencies and manufacturers of bleach in various countries warning people not to misuse the stuff.

Regarding Trump Derangement Syndrome. I see it thrown around a lot, I'm not sure what it is. Nobody can ever really explain it to the layman.
