If you like Japanese, search “Cooking with Dog” on YouTube … cute old lady & her dog cooking Japanese Soul Food … and another guy I watch is “Kitchen Confidence” … guy in Houston, but I think he has ASEAN roots …IraHayes wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:13 pm Cooking has never been one of my strong points.
I used to enjoy baking and making my own bread when I lived in the UK and I keep verging on getting one of those worktop ovens.
How my 2 put up with my lack of culinary expertise is a constant source of amazement to me and I should really invest some time and effort into honing this skillset a tad more.
So, any helpful youtube cooks/chefs or recipe websites that are tailored to ingredients that are available here.. please post them

Without wanting to get into any debate about the pros and cons, you could try -

Experimenting where ingredients may need substitution.
Some genuinely quick and easy recipes, which is great when spare time is limited. Let the live in carers explore their creative talents.
Only cheese tends to be expensive

That actor, John Witherspoon, was hilarious. His stand up comedy was great too, and his appearances on Dave Letterman's late night talk show were laughfests. Those two had good joke chemistry.Fridaywithmateo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 9:17 pm This guy played Ice Cube's dad in the movie Friday ... super funny YT chef too ...

The meat looks like you could eat it or resole your shoes or flip-flops with it?Dario wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 3:06 am On my stove tonight....
I felt tempted to say japanese school girl uniforms, sliced and smoked.
But i don't want to be a troll, therefore i retract the above.
First time i took a food picture, i think, because i want to explain to a friend back home what a 2dollarfifty menu looks like.
It's probably more or less the same all throughout South America except in Peru where they have a latin/asian fusion cuisine.
Possibly other places where i haven't been. Chile, Surinam etc. Pretty sure though it's similar in Venezuela.
Homemade juice
Big serving of red beans, or soup
The plate itself almost always invariably the same: meat of choice, rice, salad and a big slice of grilled platano, banana's big brother.
I only cook when i feel it's time again for some healthy vegetables
Even though the latin cuisine is in general pretty bland, the best steaks i'm eating are here in Colombia, not in Argentina or Uruguay!
And if you wanna pay more than say 30 dollars for a fantastic steak, you probably have to eat it in the restaurant of a 5 star hotel.

I think that you mean ‘Bandeja Paisa’ bandeja meaning tray in Spanish but I believe in Colombia it means platter?Doc67 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 11:48 amIn Colombia? You must have tried Bandaja Paisa?Dario wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 3:06 am On my stove tonight....

And paisa my mate’s girlfriend Maria (are they called anything else in Colombia?) from Medellin told me she was a paisana, his Spanish wasn’t very good he was from Hull so she used to like chatting with me.
Lovely girl but unfortunately like many Paisanas and Brasileras (Brazilian girls) she was a face biter,my mate used to turn up to work with chunks missing from his cheeks but he loved her anyway?

A famous book that you often see in Thai airports is ‘Cooking with Poo’ meaning crab in Thai, although it is pronounced more like ‘Boo’ generally in Thai?Fridaywithmateo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:19 pmIf you like Japanese, search “Cooking with Dog” on YouTube … cute old lady & her dog cooking Japanese Soul Food … and another guy I watch is “Kitchen Confidence” … guy in Houston, but I think he has ASEAN roots …IraHayes wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:13 pm Cooking has never been one of my strong points.

A very famous dish in Thailand is Som Tam (Poo-Pla) meaning crab and fish generally pronounced Boo-Bla,I used to go to a great little restaurant in Chiang Mai full of locals but it’s not a dish for the fainthearted,if you don’t like ped (spicy not duck!) then don’t even go there!
