What are monthly living costs?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Alone? Family?
City?
Medical insurance?
Room, house or apartment? Location?
Pool? Sports club?
Hobbies? Car? Booz? Meds?
Girls?

Based on your information I'd say anywhere from 600-3000$ a month, with 600 probably being a pretty bare uncomfortable minimum.

It depends. For most an initial 'ordinary' visa will do which is valid for one month, it can be extended depending on your circumstances. Use the search function for 'ordinary visa' and all the info is there on this forum.

So, watching a youtuber id heard that if your on a 30 day visa all you need to do is take a trip over the border chat for a minute or stay for a night or two and then return with a new 30 day visa. is this correct?

Exactly, as Zac has said. There are many variables.

I'm a single father, long term here (20 years) and I need a minimum of around $3,500 per month to live a decent, comfortable life.

Nobody can enter without a visa except Cambodians. Visas are all 30 days long.

That's a stupid way to do it and a waste of time and money. You get an extension instead.

if u enter on a 30 day voa ( $30) tourist visa, u can extend that once for 30 days for apx $40 via an agent
IF u enter on an Ordinary, business visa ( $35 VOA) you can extend 1, 3, 6, 12 months without leaving, different requirements for different extensions.
