Chinese Navy’s Suspected New Overseas Base In Cambodia Now Even Larger
https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/20 ... ven-largerThere have been persistent reports of China attempting to expand the global reach of its Navy with a network of overseas bases. Ream in Cambodia has long been on that list. New evidence shows that a large dry dock is now under construction there. As the war in Ukraine shows, these facilities are strategically important.

China just built a very big cruise ship. Is the dock big enough to handle
the logistics of landing a cruise ship? Maybe if it is built,,,,they will come.

The cruise ship could be great. Cruise down and visit for a while. Then fly back.
The return cruise to China would be less money, so maybe cruise up to China and
take the train back.

well i guess we can put to rest about it being a "suspected" chinese base

The newly-built Chinese naval base at Ream, Cambodia, has welcomed its first PLA Navy warships, the Cambodian ministry of defense has confirmed. Satellite imagery shows several ships alongside the brand new finger pier that Chinese contractors have installed at Ream, Iwhere the Cambodian military has leased the north half of an existing naval base to Chinese forces. it appears to be the first time that the pier has received ships (other than construction barges and dredgers related to the project).
In a post on Facebook, Cambodian minister of defense Tea Seiha said that several Chinese PLA Navy warships have arrived at Ream in order to support training for the Cambodian Navy. He visited the base to greet them, accompanied by his predecessor (and father), the influential Cambodian politician Tea Banh.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Foreign naval ships visit ports here regularly so I don't see how this proves anything.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 12:29 pm well i guess we can put to rest about it being a "suspected" chinese base

I suppose if you read it, rather than just look at the pretty pictures, one may note that it states "the Cambodian military has leased the north half of an existing naval base to Chinese forces"John Bingham wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 1:35 pmForeign naval ships visit ports here regularly so I don't see how this proves anything.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 12:29 pm well i guess we can put to rest about it being a "suspected" chinese base

You know that tingly little feeling you get when you really like someone? That's common sense leaving your body.
