I think murder should be criminalized. Agree?BklynBoy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 5:02 amso we both agree that there should be common sense gun reform? Make it harder to get a gun. Maybe the dumb mfkrs will finally get around to disarming @merica! Hey, if some jackass shot up the house of representatives, do you think maybe they would at last make it illegal to own guns? No? So, how long is it gonna take, brother? For the zombies to see the light?

Background checks are already required for pistols.
Re: Congressman carjacked in Washington, DC.
That is incorrect. I can purchase or get a pistol through a straw purchase or private seller where no background check is required.Big Daikon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 5:46 amI think murder should be criminalized. The same bodyguard details that gave Phnom Penh a drunken shootout not so long ago? (News report somewhere in these hallowed pages)John Bingham wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 11:28 pm The Important guys here often travel with large bodyguard details.

I need my knives, they are essential. I do not need politicians. Outlaw them, please.Gary Small wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 7:35 pmThey should outlaw Knives, to make politicians safer.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 6:15 pm https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-congr ... ton-dc.amp

Only the topmost few ministers like the deputy PM and PM himself have serious security. We had some top dogs come for TV interviews at the newspaper office, and I didn't see any security detail. Maybe they were downstairs...Freightdog wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 7:26 amThe same bodyguard details that gave Phnom Penh a drunken shootout not so long ago? Many Okhneas have serious security. One I used to work for always had at least 5 armed goons with him, as did his wife.

Most lobbyists and politicians in D.C. ironically stay within their own "safety" beltway (and university) ring, never actually engaging with the actual community in which they live (and which some purport to serve). I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. D.C. can get pretty gnarly.

I suppose there is a distinction between 24/7, state-funded protection staffed by rosters of army/police personnel ( a great status symbol, no doubt) and privately funded/ "armed goon" arrangements that mostly go home at night.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 10:57 am Many Okhneas have serious security. Been in bad DC neighborhoods twice as a child.Roryborealis wrote:Most lobbyists and politicians in D.C. ironically stay within their own "safety" beltway (and university) ring, never actually engaging with the actual community in which they live (and which some purport to serve). Once, on a family trip, pulled into an Asian strip mall. Mall cop was patrolling the parking lot with hand on his holster in the ready position. In the supermarket, all the cashiers were young fit men, overlooking the checkout lines was a balcony. The Chinese fast food place had bulletproof glass with a carousel to spin the food.
Second time was a class trip to see the Marine Corps band perform. Marines with rifles escorted the class from the parking lot to the parade grounds.
