Phnom Penh Holiday Crowds Picnic on Railway Tracks
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Phnom Penh section of the Phnom Penh to Kompong Som railway line is a place for couples and families to sit, relax, and eat and drink at sunset, especially on holidays and weekends, regardless of the possiblitity of a eventual accident.
The section of the railway that has become a popular place to relax and breathe the fresh air is at the field east of Wat Trapeang Chhouk in Sangkat Samrong Krom to the east of New World Borey Chhouk Va 2, located in Sangkat Ka Kap 2, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh.
According to the source, on the evening of October 1, 2023, yesterday in Kakap 2, hundreds of people were seen stopping their motorbikes along the raiway tracks, where a number of food and drink vendors had set up their businesses, and happy customers bought food or wine to sit on the tracks to drink and chat together at sunset.
According to a female factory worker, on Saturday or Sunday, when she is not at work, she likes to bring friends and relatives to sit on the train tracks to relax and relieve fatigue. Not only her, but also many other large groups of workers come there to play games with their friends and enjoy the atmosphere.
"Sometimes, while sitting and playing, a train arrives and everyone gets off the tracks ," she said. After watching the train, when it leaves, they all go back to their seats aand their games.
It should be noted that more than a year ago on the social network TikTok also posted a picture of crowds of people sitting on railway tracks causing concern about possible accidents.
The authorities of Po Sen Chey district, Samrong Krom commune then led law enforcement forces to educate the crowds about the danger, but some people did not listen to the instructions and still came to sit on the tracks and play without thinking.

Given their usual competence with bullets, they’d likely miss.
Let’s face it, the probability of accidents is mitigated by the possibility of actually running.
