Captive Cambodian Women Rescued from Laos Criminal Gang
Cambodia News, (Laos): On the morning of September 30, 2023, the Cambodian Embassy in Laos received information about seven Cambodian citizens, who had been tricked into going to work in Lao's Bokeo province and were being held captive by criminals. The women managed to contact the Lao police officers in the area through Facebook and at 3:30 pm on the same day, the Lao police forces found the location and rescued 6 of the captives and sent them to a safe place.
Meanwhile, there is another Cambodian citizen who did not escape because she is too unwell to move, but the Lao police officers are aware of her case, and they will continue to try to rescue her as soon as possible with the cooperation of the Cambodian embassy officials in Laos.

Cambodia News, (Stung Treng Province): At 1 pm on October 7, 2023, Mr. Ky Moniroth, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Pakse, Champa Province, brought six women victims from Laos back to Cambodia through the Trapeang Kriel International Land Border Gate, while Stung Treng provincial authorities led by Deputy Governor Keo Savoeun welcomed the women victims.
According to the Consul General, the six Cambodian women, two from Sihanoukville, two from Kampot, and two from Kampong Speu, were rescued by the Cambodian Embassy in Vientiane aided by Lao police officers from Borkeo province, at 3:30 pm on September 30, 2023. After the rescue, the officials contacted the Trapeang Kriel International Gate Police Station to facilitate the handover process.
The six women victims say they were tricked by recruiters into working in Laos since August 2023 at a KTV service, then forced to work as sex workers, every day, for 24 hours a day.
On the morning of September 30, 2023., the women posted a message on Facebook calling on the authorities to help them, and the six victims were overjoyed as the messages were received by the authorities and they were released to go home.
The Stung Treng Deputy Governor thanked the Lao authorities for their excellent cooperation with the Cambodian Embassy in liberating the Cambodian human trafficking victims.
