Surreal Cambodian Weddings

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Surreal Cambodian Weddings

Post by newkidontheblock »

Showing gold jewels and rolls of hundred dollar bills is no longer good enough for a Khmer wedding.

Fantasy weddings are now big. The entire venue looks like an impressionist painting.

Are you sure these aren't just cheap photo-shopped photos?

Cheap? They cost many thousands!
I was looking at SWMBO’s niece’s wedding photos after the event. Knowing where the actual photos were taken, I can understand why the photoshopping was needed.
It conveniently hides the piles of discarded plastic water bottles, polystyrene food containers littering the ground. Let’s face it, you don’t need to put your garbage in a bin when a man with a pc can do a Harry Potter.
It also saves on the expense of uprooting everyone and trying to get the photos taken amid a sea of tourists and hawkers at Angkor.

Noppeee it's not photoshopped. I was there yesterday & today.

What you see are all fresh flowers and the decor alone costs upwards of USD$2mil

Whose wedding was it?
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Once I’ve had my fill of oysters, lobster and champers, I’d want little to do with these folks.

That said, Richie and Jade don’t really conjure up an image of a Khmer couple, half couple, demi-couple or even an odd couple.
