Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): At 23:40 on September 29, 2023 at Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh, a house burnt down with one of the residents trapped inside. The house was made of wood on the first storey and the ground floor was made of concrete. The home owner, Lach Samon, 58, a retired military officer, was sleeping upstairs when the fire broke out, while the rest of the family slept downstairs.

Close to midnight, the family woke up to see the house on fire, and the son of the house owner tried to go upstairs to save his father, but the entire first floor was already in flames, and the older man died in the fire. The rest of the family managed to unlock the front door and escape unharmed.

Authorities and police brought in 12 fire trucks to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, but it may have been candles that were left burning or possibly an electrical fault. Police continue to investigate.
