Cambodian Airports Raise Passengers' Fees from 1 Sept 2023

September 26, 2023
Passengers to pay higher airport fee
Passengers flying out of Cambodia’s three airports will have to pay more in passenger service charges and levies from this September as the aviation industry continues to see a recovery.

The government has decided to increase the air passenger service charge by $5, besides other levies for next year.

The decision was made by a Council of Ministers’ notification dated September 11, 2023, on a proposal to increase passenger service charges and related aviation service charges, including (landing, parking, lighting and aerobridge).

“The Royal Government of Cambodia has approved the SCA Airport Concession Company to increase necessary service charges for a period of five years from September 1, 2023, to September 1, 2028,” the notification stated.

Accordingly, the passenger charges on international flights for Cambodian adults have now been revised to $23, up from $18 and for foreigners to $30, up from $25.

Charges for international flights for children under 12 years are now $15, up from $10 and for foreigners $18, up from $13.

Passenger service charges for domestic flights (all passengers) for Cambodians and foreigners are kept unchanged at $5 and $6, respectively.

Couldn't they raise it by $30 and get rid of the tourist visa? Make people pay to leave, not to come to visit?

Well, the exit tax gets added to the airfare and that gets bought before they even enter!

Having been through a lot of airports in the last few months, I can assure you Phnom Penh is better than any of them. I rarely wait more than 15 mins to check in, more often much less. I have never waited at outbound Immigration for more than 1 minute or less and security is just a walk-up job. Inbound immigration is just as quick and so too is the luggage which is just as quick. It's a pleasure to fly from there.

The large international hubs are now nothing more than cash cows for their owners, the public are treated like dairy cows to be milked and kept standing around endlessly grazing on grass for which you have to pay comedy prices. They don't give a fuck about your experience as reflected by their reviews.

When did this happen? Got a source? First I've heard of it and we just got our newborn a passport last week, same price as always.

Cheers @armchairlawyer, I remember that but had heard nothing about it actually happening. Wife and Middle kid got new passports last year prior to trip abroad and got newborns last week, no change to the official fees.

As airports grow in passenger numbers they should charge less and less per passenger. The opposite is happening at most if not all airports.

How do they distinguish between foreign and Cambodian passengers when buying a ticket? Don't all passengers pay the "foreigner fee" in their tickets, with Cambodians having to request reimbursement after their flights? After all, they stopped charging the exit fee at the airport years ago, so now it's all included in yr ticket.
