Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A body of a 13-year-old boy, who went missing after a boat sank three days ago in Bak Kheng commune, Chroy Changva district, Phnom Penh, was found by his family on the morning of September 25 2023, in the river near Koh Pich. The sinking appears to have been caused by the boat's proximity to a sand dredger.

The dead boy, Phorn Sovannut, lived in Sangkat Bakheng, Khan Chroy Changva, Phnom Penh.

The terrible event occured at around 6 pm on September 22, 2023: the boy was riding in a boat with his father and brother to go fishing when the boat was overturned as it floated near the sand dredger at Bridge 7 in Bak Kheng, Chroy Changvar district.
The father immediately rescued a younger brother, but the older brother had disappeared and could not be found. That night, parents and siblings searched for the body of the child victim but could not find him.

On the morning of September 25, 2023, the rescue team of Unit 911 took equipment to the base of the East Chroy Changvar Bridge to search for the body as requested, when it was reported that the child's body was floating around Koh Pich. RIP.
