Police Move in to Clear Up Daun Penh Sidewalks
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): In order to maintain order and allow the public streets to be beautiful in Phnom Penh, Mr. Chap Dina, Deputy Governor of Daun Penh District, led the local police to target the clearance of Street 68, Street 36, Street 47 and Preah Sisowath Quai.
According to Mr. Chap Dina, on the morning of Monday, September 25, 2023, the operation was led by the authorities to clear up the public sidewalks so they may be used by pedestrians. Mr. Chap Dina added that on behalf of the city hall prosecutor, he asked the local shopkeepers to assist the forces of order by personally removing obstacles from the sidewalks to allow the public free movement.

If they remove all the garbage and sundry bits that are covering all the holes, won’t they need to fill in the holes with bits of pavement?
And while they’re at it, the open urinals on the corner of 130 and 118 could do with some incentives for the tuktuk drivers to piss somewhere else.

Sure, free movement to drive or park your motorbike or truck on. It's fucked. Walking here is a nightmare....removing obstacles from the sidewalks to allow the public free movement.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Been a while since the Duan Penh guys went on one of these "clearing" missions

It's only being done because someone with a VIP sticker in their Lexus front windscreen could not find a parking space on the footpath.

That's awfully nice of them, I hadn't even told them that I'll come to Phnom Penh later this week and they still did it.

And another While they’re at it, maybe they could get that knackered old police truck with flat tyres moved from outside the nice metal surround that obscure what used to be the gardens. It should fetch some ៛៛៛ in scrap.

and maybe they could do same for St 19? only one bike parking agent parks bikes at an angle so you can actually walk on a thin strip of 'sidewalk.'
Several shop owners park suv and even pickup trucks head-in blocking entire 'sidewalk' and an entire 'bike' lane of the road.
When one of the concrete trucks goes down the street and a city bus or trash truck is headed the opposite way all traffic is frozen until the impatient shopper finishes comes out and moves their double parked SUV! lol

I’ve walked through a TukTuk and climbed over a Moto that deliberately positioned themselves to impede foot traffic, previously. Maybe it’s time to assume that the footpath continues over an SUV. Irritated footprints on someone’s roof might wake the idiots up.finn wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 12:18 pm and maybe they could do same for St 19? only one bike parking agent parks bikes at an angle so you can actually walk on a thin strip of 'sidewalk.'

I'd be worried that it wakes up a gun-toting bodyguard.Freightdog wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 12:41 pmI’ve walked through a TukTuk and climbed over a Moto that deliberately positioned themselves to impede foot traffic, previously.
