So, Woodstock is dead and gone, but what was your favourite track?
Mine was this, incredible delivery, made everyone else, even Hendrix, pale in comparison

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Ten Years After (I'm going Home! With Alvin Lee on guitar) ) and of course Hendrix. Lived on the west coast and by the time I heard about it, it was over. Did go to some rock festivals on the west coast though. I also saw Hendrix very early in his career in Seattle. He played at the Eagles Auditorium in around 1967. The same show had San Francisco's Moby Grape on the bill.
"If you remember the '60s and '70, you weren't there."
Violent Femmes? Yes, a lot of rock is three cords and a couple runs up/down the pentatonic scale.

Richie Havens "Freedom" always stuck in the memory in any of the programmes I've seen on Woodstock. Hunted it out for a listen and the link says he opened it and was asked to play a long set because the other artists hadn't arrived He played for 3 hours plus the various encores because the crowd loved it, and he sang this version of "Motherless Child" because he had run out of songs !
Brilliant, talk about a great opener
