Heavy rain and blocked drains

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Heavy rain and blocked drains

Post by Tootsfriend »

So I'm standing at the doorway [ in Takhmau ] and its pissing down with rain, the street is 12 inches deep with water and I'm thinking it wont we long before the water comes inside. My 12 yo girl and I have cleaned all the plastic bags and shit from the roadside drains and are retrieving all the floating plastic that is going past.
I then look along the street 20m and see the old lady throwing three big plastic bags of rubbish into the middle of the water flooded street. So I walk near knee deep in water and pick them up and throw them onto the footpath. She then throws them back onto the water flooded street again. This continues and we start cursing each other and she only stops after I get out my phone and start to video her.
Half an hour later her son a rich business' man arrives home and yells a few words at me.

No wonder this country is fucked up.

If it keeps on raining, the levees gonna break, then we'll have to merge this thread with the 'God is Angry' thread.
