Cambodian PM Discloses His Trip to U.S. in September
AKP Phnom Penh, September 01, 2023 --
Cambodian Prime Minister H.E. Kitti Tesaphibal Pundit HM disclosed his trip to the U.S. later this month in his public speech this morning.
At a get-together with factory workers and employees in Takhmao town, Kandal province, H.E. Kitti Tesaphibal Pundit did not give details of his forthcoming trip, he just said he would travel to the U.S. and meet with Cambodian community there.
“I will go to the U.S. on Sept. 20, 2023 to meet with our people there,” the Premier underlined.
Some sources revealed that H.E. Kitti Tesaphibal Pundit HM would attend the 78th UN General Assembly in New York.
According to the UN, the 78th UN General Assembly (UNGA 78) will take place from Sept. 18 to 26, 2023, at a time of unprecedented setbacks on global progress.
During the UNGA 78, world leaders, including young leaders, will discuss and debate how to confront the global polycrisis, and find strategies to accelerate action on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

New PM Reaffirms Cambodian Foreign Polity to UN
AKP Phnom Penh, September 23, 2023 --
As the new Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HM reaffirmed the Royal Government’s foreign policy to the General Debate of 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 78), held at the UN headquarters in the afternoon of Sept. 22 (New York time) or in the morning of Sept. 23 (Phnom Penh time).
Cambodia will continue on its present path of independent and neutral foreign policy — based on the rule of law, equal mutual respect and adherence to the principles of the UN Charter — to promote its national interests, strengthen existing friendships and build more amicable ties, he said.
Cambodia remains resolute against the threat or use of force in international relations, interference in the internal affairs of and aggression against other independent nations, he added.
“Cambodia shall not authorise any foreign military base on its territory, as clearly stated in its constitution. Cambodia will not allow any country nor any group to use its territory against another country,” the Premier underlined.

Re: New Cambodian PM Plans Trip to United States
Cambodia-U.S. Relations to be Stronger with Greater Common Interests
AKP Phnom Penh, September 25, 2023 --
The Cambodian Prime Minister’s trip to the U.S. reflected the stronger relations between the two countries, especially when both sides have greater common interests.
The comment was made by H.E. Jean-François Tan, Minister Delegate Attached to the Prime Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at press conference at Phnom Penh International Airport this morning on the outcomes of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei HM’s participation in the General Debate of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
“Cambodia-U.S. relations will become stronger if they share greater mutual benefits, whether in terms of economy, politics or geopolitics,” said the minister delegate.
H.E. Jean-François Tan recalled that during their meeting in New York on Sept. 22, 2023, the Cambodian Premier and H.E. Ms. Victoria Nuland, U.S. Acting Deputy Secretary of State, highlighted the better friendship between the two countries. “We have not yet talked about ways and means for the two countries to join hands in the same direction, but I think we should be optimistic about the cooperation between Cambodia and the U.S. for the common interests on the economy or geopolitics," he added.
According to H.E. Jean-François Tan, Cambodia and the U.S. have seen some common benefits, such as in the areas of trade and investment. In 2022, the trade volume between both nations was recorded at about US$13.5 billion. This figure is a promising factor for the stronger relations between Cambodia and the U.S.
From now on, he underlined, Cambodia needs to communicate with this superpower to attract more of its investments and businesses to the Kingdom.

US reverses decision on suspension of $18mil aid money
The United States has reversed its decision to suspend $18 million in assistance to Cambodia through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) following this year’s National Election when Washington had considered the election unfair and lacked transparency.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation released a statement on Saturday that “The United States had decided to resume the $18 million in assistance extended to Cambodia through USAID that was stopped following this year’s General Election.”
The announcement was made during Prime Minister HM’s meeting with Victoria Nuland, United States Acting Deputy Secretary of State, on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York on Friday.

Re: New Cambodian PM Plans Trip to United States
Seems like it was a great success from the Cambodian standpoint; However, I doubt that the money (a very paltry 18 million USD) will actually go into funding anything useful since the United States (and by extension, UK) generally don't do humanitarian things that are free of a political agenda, so I hope our PM remembers that the US is always funding and financing his enemies and keeps his awares.
Pray for HM and the CPP

Yes, the only ones who actively contribute to real development in Cambodia by acting responsibly in governing the nation; If the US had its way, Kampuchea would resemble Libya post-Qaddafi right now.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 9:47 pmSo HM and the CPP are the downtrodden masses in Cambodia?HaifongWangchuck wrote:Seems like it was a great success from the Cambodian standpoint; However, I doubt that the money (a very paltry 18 million USD) will actually go into funding anything useful since the United States (and by extension, UK) generally don't do humanitarian things that are free of a political agenda, so I hope our PM remembers that the US is always funding and financing his enemies and keeps his awares.

With bad leadership, Cambodia would only be getting worse; instead, it grows, and people are more optimistic than ever before.
Without Western support, Sam Rainsy would be an insignificant pissant writing in some French (since word is he struggles to speak phesar Khmer now) newspaper for Cambodian expatriates with an axe to grind. While USAID keeps funding luxury cars and villas to the enemies of Cambodia such as?
What things useful to Khmer society does USAID actually provide? I'd like to see receipts on this one, since it usually just goes to American pet projects/furthering a political agenda (e.g, funding pride parades and the like).
