Cracking Around Hinge Laptop

Post by wackyjacky »

Is there a shop in PP that could handle this repair. I'll be up this week for 5 days. Apparently it's not easy and takes quite a bit of skill. A couple people online even suggested a guitar repair shop. I mistakenly thought it was just a matter of finding the right glue. I'd hate to throw this puppy away. It's still fast and has plenty of RAM.

Thanks, but i doubt you could make them out w/ the camera on my Iphone. One is 1"&1/2 long on the outside of the lid 1" above the hinge and the other is 1" long on the screen side right at the hinge. Both are of the hairline variety. I think I'm going to have to get a new lid on Ebay and go in and loosen up the hinge.

just clean it with a solvent and use a 24 hour epoxy in the crack.
use a toothpick or the head of a needle and only fill the crack.

No kinda glue sticks good enough to the plastic from what I've read. That's the solution I was hoping for, but it only worked for a few days. Soldering chips of the exact same plastic does work supposedly. If the plastic is slightly different it doesn't. The butt ugly option is to stipple a bunch of little holes around the cracks, sand like crazy, and bond some aluminum on the outside. The more I think about it, the more likely it is that I buy new. I've been called 'dick fingered' before due to my lack of ability with tools and that's pretty apt.
