New goverment more than double the size an bet they get half as much done
New Gov’t More Than Doubles Secretary and Undersecretary of State Positions in Ministries
https://cambojanews.com/new-govt-more-t ... inistries/The newly formed government has 1,422 secretaries or undersecretaries of state — a 121.8% increase from the previous government, which had only 641 officials in those positions.
The list of new appointments was released on Tuesday evening through government-aligned media Fresh News.
Many of these appointments appear to have gone to relatives of current or former ruling CPP officials and also a flurry of former opposition leaders, environmental activists and union leaders who joined the ruling CPP in the lead-up to July elections.
“We have seen the appointments are linked with a lot of high-ranking officials’ children,” said Yong Kim Eng, president of the People Centre for Development Peace, an NGO advocating for transparency in governance.

Fuck me!
A country with a population of two (maximum three) major cities, administered by an excess of bureaucracy, no doubt all ably achieving their office mandate, but pulling in opposite directions, for a net gain of SFA.
I wonder what the buy in was for these esteemed folk?

Reminds me of the UK. Oh they do like big government, don't mention the EU please.

Look at all the parties needed to cobble together a coalition with a strong majority that can withstand the odd breakaway and still hold a majority.
All these leaders will have handed over a list of 'their' people who require jobs and quite likely what jobs. This is the price required for the old guard to retain power. It's better than that young young guy who got the most votes.
@phuketrichard are all the Deputy Prime Ministers the leaders of the other parties?

Under such a system, you’d probably be reluctant to try to actually do a good job even if you could, because genuine progress is likely screwed by the a process of creating a bureaucratic post in a higher position to accommodate yet another bloated buffoon with questionable aptitude to do anything.
Or worse; said buffoon having some lofty ideas of implementing some university PHD think piece that should have remained as nothing more.
In the past year, I recall several news articles regarding land grabbing by persons in power. I wonder what level of unfettered pillaging might be possible under the new management?

Dumb question of the week, but what is a minister without ministerial position?
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

wtf?
A quarter of Cambodian People’s Party lawmakers who were sworn in just this week are now leaving the National Assembly, according to the National Election Committee.
Most of the 30 withdrawing lawmakers — 22 of them — have already been announced as cabinet ministers, so will remain in the government while making way for more CPP party members to join parliament.
