Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On August 21, 2023, the Ministry of Health issued a press release announcing the closure of Spean Mongkul (Mongkul Bridge) Clinic and Maternity for negligent practice after the death of a patient. This follows the closure of another private clinic in Phnom Penh after a patient death last week.

The Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia would like to inform the public, that following an inspection of the Mongkul Bridge Clinic, located at 510, Street 371, Sangkat Boeung Tumpun II, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh. Phnom Penh, on August 20, 2023, the establushment has been closed until further notice.


The team investigated the case of a patient who died after they were sent from Spean Mongkul Clinic by ambulance to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital on August 11, 2023 at 6:30am. It was concluded that the death was the result of some shortcomings at the clinic in the diagnosis, technical assistance, and emergency referral time, and therefore, the Ministry of Health decided to close the hospital and revoke the license.
