Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): The National Police General Commission of Investigation and Investigation Team of the General Commission of the National Police issued a press release on the results of a search for a Chinese national who requested help through the Facebook page of the Deputy Prime Minister Samdech Krala Hom (Case No. 1006).

A translation of the police's statement on the incident:

"The National Police General Commission's National Police General Investigation Team has released a press statement regarding the results of an operation conducted in response to a request for intervention made through the Facebook page of Samdech Krala Hom (Case No. 1006).

On July 26, 2023, the task force received a plea for help from a Chinese national identified as C B, with passport number EE7285803. C B claimed that he was being held against his will and forced to work at a company in the Phnom Penh area. Acting swiftly on the request, the Phnom Penh Municipal Police located and apprehended the Chinese man at a company premises in Village 14, Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh. Further investigation conducted by the Capital Police revealed that the evidence, including a loan contract and the statement of the individual involved, pointed to the fact that C B's allegations were unfounded and that he had falsely filed the complaint to evade a debt of $1,700 owed to the company.

The relevant authorities are now in the process of handing over the Chinese national to the General Department of Immigration for deportation and repatriation procedures. This update is being shared with the public both nationally and internationally.

For further information or inquiries, kindly contact the National Police General Commission."

Love this new approach by the MOI to Chinese kidnap and extortion cases where the victim is held responsible for their own mistreatment.
That should teach them to stop complaining on FB.
