interesting times in Thailand

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

interesting times in Thailand

Post by phuketrichard »

This week saw the return of 2 of the kings 4 estranged sons to Thailand, They were last here 27 years ago when the king disowned them (1996) when they had fled with their mom to the Uk ( where they tried to live, but the King reportedly accused them of being drug dealers and they were thrown out) and they moved to the states.

They have since been living in America where they have become successful people on their own
One is a lawyer and one a Dr. both living in New York

One has to wonder why the change of heart and why now? it has NOT been reported if they even met with their dad but someone high up had to have smoothed the way for their visit. Also NO mention of their mom ( ex Thai actress) the kings 2nd wife

Could those in power see the changes in Thailand ( what with the win by the move forward party)
and paving the way for.......

Interesting times for sure

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Maybe lining one up for the throne. Vajiralongkorn's youngest son has some sort of mental disorder.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

The elder daughter has been on life support since December 2022.

The only royally titled son is considered to be autistic.

That seems to leave one other daughter.

Of course, the ideal situation would be to have a new king, so the males closest to throne are needed. The situation is quite similar to when King Rama VII abdicated in 1935 and two young brothers, the future King Rama VIII and King Rama IX, who were living in Switzerland, were contacted.

I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.
