Hi all, newbie here, moving to koh rong samloem at the end of august

will need to get a bank account, do banks have mailboxes in sihanoukville ?

Get a PO Box in Sihanoukville. I don't know how things are there these days, but my experience was always that I could send letters and parcels out of Sihanoukville overseas with no problem. Picking up mail from abroad was more hit and miss - sometimes fine, sometimes lost (but where ?).

Better still, I would get on to some longstay island expats and see what they recommend for mail service. You might be even able to get mail sent directly out to you on the boat through someone in SHV. (Ask your contacts there or try FB.)

Banks have bank accounts, post offices have mailboxes. Or do you mean safe deposit boxes?

No, Banks in Cambodia do not have mail boxes. You can purchase a P.O. Box, if there are any available, from the main post office in Shitsville.
