Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): Sources from the criminal police revealed that among the 11 men and women detained in the raid on the hotel "Sophia ”in Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok on 31 July, only two people are suspected of involvement in the murder. However, the two suspects have not yet fully confessed to their actions. The police raid and the arrests follow the fatal shooting of a Vietnamese man in Khan Boeung Keng Kang on 29 July, 2023.
On the afternoon of July 31, 2023, the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Interior. found the abandoned Lexus NT300 car, which was a stolen vehicle.
As of August 1, 2023, according to a police spokesperson, the preliminary information on the case indicates that the killing was the work of a criminal gang who had an internal dispute over drug trafficking.
The arrested suspects have not yet volonteered all their information on the circumstances of the murder to the police and the investigation continues.

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): In accordance with the orders of His Excellency General Neth Savoeun, National Police Commissioner, the Criminal Police Department of the National Police detained 14 male and female suspects during a police operation targeting suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a Vietnamese man in Boeung Keng Kang district, and 10 people were sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, either implicated in the murder or the associated drug trafficking.
It should be noted that on July 29, 2023, at 1:30pm, a murder was committed by unidentified suspects, using a car and a motorcycle and two handguns. The victim, 37-year-old Nguyen Tun Hung, a Vietnamese national, was shot dead on Street 360, Sangkat Toul Svay Prey 1, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh.
As soon as they were notified, the Criminal Police Department led an investigation to track down the suspects involved in the shooting, which targeted two different locations in Phnom Penh: the Sophia Hotel in Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, and another location in the Highland condominium in Sangkat Prek Leap, Khan Chroy Changva, Phnom Penh. In this operation, there was also the cooperation of Chantrea District Police Inspectorate of the Svay Rieng Provincial Police.
During the raids, the police confiscated 3 cars, 1 motorbike, 2 small arms, 2 bullets, 5 bullets, some blue pills and some white powder, as well as two drug scales. After the interrogation on the afternoon of July 3, 2023, the Criminal Police Department sent 10 male and female suspects to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for legal action, and they are continuing the search for the remaining accomplices.
