I'll readily admit that I've had occasional thoughts of violence towards malfunctioning ATMs as well. But ultimately we all know (or should know) that the damn things have cameras, as seen here. That plus any transaction records should be deterrent enough!

I have had wet dreams about destroying ATM's. But you have to be a right idiot to actually live out that fantasy.

The ATM camera is showing 04:19 - 04:20 and when we look at the overall appearance of the perpetrator it is likely the clock is displaying a 24 hour time and this occurred at 4:20am after a night out.
One can presume alcohol was a major contributing factor in the events that unfolded when his card was rejected for unknown reasons.
The stills from the ATM camera show a PIN being entered twice and it is possible he made more attempts that also ended with his card being rejected. Given the affect alcohol has on some people under stressful situations these repeated rejections of his card likely enraged him enough to attack the machine.

I was waiting outside the front entrance to Psar Leu in Sihanoukviille about five years ago. There was a barang using the ABA ATM there and he did the same thing. Before he could leave the ATM, an unmarked car with a bunch of big Khmer guys in street clothes showed up, got the guy and threw him into the back seat and took off. ABA does not fool around when it comes to destroying their property.
