A group of 'Highland Lassies' are set to take on a mammoth expedition in order to raise funds for Marie Curie.
The group of friends and family will be taking on a cycle of Vietnam and Cambodia from 11 - 22 October, clocking up to 95km per day over 8 days.

Those taking part in the challenge include Paula Dick, Tasmin Maclennan, Julie Mackay, Simone Allan, Claire Mackay and Joan MacRae.

A spokesperson from Marie Curie said: "The Challenge, as always, will be very tough, in temperatures of over 30 degrees!

"This has required many hours of training, over several months in order to achieve the level of fitness required to complete the ride. Some are seasoned cyclists, while others have not been on a bike for over 35 years!"

The challenge will take them from the colourful city of Ho Chi Minh in Southern Vietnam to historic Angkor Wat in Cambodia, focussing on the incredible Mekong and taking them through Phnom Penh and across Tonle Sap Lake before finally arriving at the magnificent temple of Angkor Wat.

The Highland Lassies said: "Marie Curie Nurses are beacons of hope for people living with a terminal illness and their families across the UK.

"Now more than ever Marie Curie Nurses and our frontline staff are needed to provide vital care, expertise and compassion to dying people and their families, in their homes across the Highlands of Scotland.
"Their services such as the Support Line and Check In and Chat have also helped people who are struggling with any aspect relating to terminal illness."
