Sihanoukville Tourism Port Opened

Preah Sihanouk province has inaugurated a large tourism port to boost more visitors to its countless natural attractions.
Minister of Tourism H.E. Thong Khon on Thursday presided over the official inauguration of the Sihanoukville Tourism port capable of docking 20 large and small cruise ships at the same time.
According to Neak Oknha Tea Vichet, CEO of GTVC Import Export Co., Ltd. that invested in the port, it encompasses a total of 22,000 square metres and stands as a potential driver of tourism in the province.
Addressing the function, Preah Sihanouk Provincial Governor H.E. Kuoch Chamroeun was optimistic that the port could become an international one that can mutually facilitate tourists back and forth from Thailand, Vietnam and other countries.
H.E. Thong Khon spoke highly of the new port as a vital tourism infrastructure safe and convenient for tourist cruise ships as well as tourists.
It will bring more national and international tourists to the province's cultural and natural attractions as well as create more job and income generation opportunities for the locals.
Tourism is a priority sector in promoting macroeconomic growth and social development in Cambodia and is expected to take up the biggest part in the country's gross domestic product in a near future.
