Cambodia News(Banteay Meanchey): On 05 July 2023, 6,000 ducks which were imported from Vietnam without permit were seized by the Intervention Task Force on Animal Movement of the General Department of Animal Health and Animal Production for distribution to Kandal and Banteay Meanchey provinces. Two illegal truck loads of 3,000 live ducks were monitored crossing the border under the cover of darkness from Vietnam into Cambodia.

Case 1: At 22:42, the Intervention Team for the Suppression of Animal Movement Crimes of the General Department of Animal Health and Animal Production seized a HYUNDAI truck, a 2.5-ton truck with license plate Banteay Meanchey 3A-1737, carrying 3,000 live ducks from Vietnam to Cambodia through Banteay Chakrei border gate, Preah Sdach district, Prey Veng province, intended for sale and distribution in Banteay Meanchey province without any permit.

Case 2: At 22:55, another HYUNDAI truck, a 2.5-ton truck with license plate Phnom Penh 3G 1006, carrying 3,000 live ducks from Vietnam to Cambodia was intercepted going through the corridor of Preah Sdach district, Prey Veng province, to sell and distribute in Kandal province without any permit.

In both cases, where 6,000 ducks were detained, the team brought the exhibits and the above-mentioned offenses to be stored at the animal sanctuary of the General Department of Animal Health and Animal Production to follow legal procedures.

It should be noted that this crackdown was carried out on the direct command of HE Tan Phannara, the Director General of the General Department of Animal Health and Production, in order to stamp out the unhygenic illegal traffic of poultry.
