Looking for a lawyer in Phnom Penh

Post by ressl »

Not necessary a good one, a cheap one should do, since the claim does not have a huge chance of success, but it should get seriously annoying for the other party (my grandpa was a judge, and he claimed, that you are not going to the court to win, but to annoy someone - it seems he was quite right about that...). The guy should have at least a specialization in business related issues

Easy money for them . I couldn’t imagine his office
( i told him i couldn’t make it to Pp ever , so ….
He made house calls ( to me ) w/ an interpreter friend off facebook
Easy come easy go for me , I had $S$tars in my eyes 👀
Kinda , but it just made it 100% of what I ever gave money here for anything was wasted , except my moto of course .
and I had a stash of cash built up from not losing poker for a couple years after shinouk went red ( the other red 🫤😉)

Hello ressl

Most embassies maintain lists of recommended professional services for use by their nationals. Have you contacted your national Embassy and enquired which lawyers they recommend?

Most lawyers do not go to court. They subcontract court appearance even on trial days.
Maybe go to the court and talk to the guy who showed up for a client. Don't be put off
by the casual dress code. I guess they go with "just the facts" and not with "appearances"
when the judge hears a case.

Maybe OP will be put off more by the language barrier than the 'dress code'.

My Khmer is pretty OK, but I can not have a conversation about legal issues with a judge or subcontractor in Khmer.

An assumption they are willing / able to speak English to the OP seems very optimistic to me.

Thanks for the replies. I thought about spending a few hundred dollars on this case, but $20k is far beyond worth it. Going to the court sounds like an interesting idea tough
