Thai Woman Busted at Airport with 3Kgs of Cocaine from Africa

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): According to the confession of WONGHACHAK PHATCHARAPHA, a 33-year-old Thai woman, she was sent from Thailand to Conakry in Guinea by her Cameroonian lover, a 40-year-old football coach working in Thailand, who asked her to pick up and transport a suitcase from Africa for him. The woman said that she went to a hotel in Conakry where she met a DJ who was a friend of her lover's. She took the red suitcase that he gave her, and then flew to Cambodia via several countries including Ethiopia. The final stage was to transport the cargo overland from Cambodia across the Thai border.

However, on July 2, 2023, when the Thai woman arrived from Africa at Phnom Penh International Airport, the Anti-Drug Bureau's cross-border "A10" specialized force of the Anti-Drug Department were waiting for her, together with the Cambodian customs and excise authorities.

The Cambodian forces seized and searched her red suitcase, where they found some white powder hidden in the bottom of the suitcase. The powder later tested positive for cocaine, which weighed a total of 2,790.37 grams (nearly three kilograms).
The woman was therefore taken into custody by the Anti-Drug Police for questioning and examination, before being sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on the morning of July 5, 2023, on charges of trafficking almost 3 kilograms of cocaine from Conakry, Guinea.
