Cambodia News (Battambang): On July 1, 2023, at 7:28pm, a case of aggravated theft (known as bag-snatching) was reported to police in Battambang Province, against Khin Srey Mom, 33 years old, and her husband while they were riding their motorbike through Kilo 13 village. A young male suspect drove up alongside the couple's motorbike and pulled at the woman's handbag, attempting to cut the strap. This made the couple lose control and fall off the motorcycle on to the road. Both suffered minor injuries, which could have been worse; the woman suffered a broken left knee, a broken left finger, and a minor right ankle injury, and her husband, Sun Sok Leng, 32 years old, suffered a graze on his left forearm and a left knee fracture.

Following the attack, the youth escaped on his motorbike. Meanwhile, the couple filed a complaint with police that night, and very soon, police officers had located the suspect, a 15-year-old youth riding a black 2021 Honda Dream motorcycle with no license plate. The suspect, named Thach Bora, resident of Poipet City, was arrested and taken into custody by Sampov Loun District Police Inspectorate on July 2, 2023,at around 1am.

Upon being questioned by police, Thach Bora admitted to attempting to snatch a bag from the woman at Kilo 13 village, and causing an accident. The suspect has been sent to the specialized office of Battambang Provincial Police for further proceedings, and the motorbike and the knife were confiscated.
